SUSTAINABILITY IS PART OF OUR EVERYDAY

Sustainability at Heavenly Hair is more than a trend, it’s woven into everything we do. It’s not about one product or a single initiative, but the everyday choices we make to work more thoughtfully and responsibly. From the B Corp products on our shelves and the water we use at our basins, to the furniture in our salons and the hair swept from our floors, we believe that small, considered decisions can make a meaningful difference.

repurpose BEFORE REPLACE

Our salon interiors are an important part of our sustainability ethos. Wherever possible, we choose to reuse, repurpose and give furniture a new lease of life rather than automatically buying new. Natural wood, greenery and pre-loved pieces sit alongside carefully selected professional salon equipment, creating spaces that feel warm, individual and thoughtfully designed.

This considered approach brings together sustainability, style and functionality, earning Heavenly Hair recognition as a finalist in salon design categories at both the Salon Awards and the British Hairdressing Business Awards.

Davines: our main haircare partner

Our choice of professional brands and suppliers is always with sustainability in mind.

Davines is our principal professional haircare brand because its values align so closely with our own. The Davines Group has been a certified B Corporation since 2016, reflecting its commitment to high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

Sustainability is at the heart of how Davines approaches product development, packaging and its wider business practices. Through a holistic strategy focused on environmental regeneration, social responsibility and responsible governance, the company is working towards a model of growth that reduces its environmental impact.

Our commitment goes beyond the products we use. Three members of the Heavenly Hair team have completed sustainability training with Davines, helping us translate these wider environmental principles into practical, everyday actions within our salons.

Refill - Reuse - Repeat

Our Davines refill station gives clients a simple and more affordable way to keep using the products they love, while reducing the need to purchase a new retail bottle each time. Clients bring suitable bottles back and refill selected Davines shampoos and conditioners in salon, saving 20% of the RRP.

If an original bottle is not to hand, we’ve got eco refill pouches available to purchase in-salon too. Each one contains two full bottles worth of product reducing both plastic and production waste.

Saving water at every basin

Hair salons naturally use a significant amount of water, making water conservation one of the most practical ways we can reduce our environmental impact. That’s why our salon basins are fitted with Ecoheads showerheads, designed to reduce water and energy consumption while maintaining a powerful, effective rinse.

According to Ecoheads, its Showerhead X can reduce water and energy use by up to 65%. Across the many washes we carry out every day, these savings can add up, helping us reduce our environmental footprint appointment after appointment.

giving single use Towels a Second Life

We use biodegradable, single-use salon towels as an alternative to the repeated laundering of traditional cotton towels. But for us, their usefulness doesn’t have to end after one appointment. Wherever possible, we find ways to reuse them around the salon, and we encourage clients to take used towels home to put them to practical use again before disposal.

It’s another simple way to make the most of what we use and reduce unnecessary waste.

From Salon Floor to Garden

Our plants and courtyard garden are some of our favourite parts of Heavenly Hair, and they’ve become an important part of our sustainability story too. Rather than automatically treating hair clippings as waste, we look for ways to give them a second life. Human hair contains nutrients that can benefit the garden, making it a resource worth rethinking.

We reuse suitable hair clippings around our salon plants and encourage interested clients to take their own clippings home to explore similar uses in their gardens. We also give empty Davines pots a new purpose by repurposing them as planters for small plants.

We love the circularity of it all: something created during a haircut can leave the salon with a completely new purpose. These simple, thoughtful choices help us make better use of the materials we already have and bring sustainability into everyday salon life.

Recognised for Making a Difference

We’re proud to have our commitment to sustainability recognised by our industry. Since winning Most Sustainable Salon – Suffolk at the Salon Awards in 2020, we’ve continued to build on this ethos, earning further recognition and finalist places year on year , including:

  • Sustainable Salon of the Year – British Hairdressing Business Awards 2026

  • Most Sustainable Salon – Salon Awards 2026

These acknowledgements mean a great deal to us. They celebrate the progress we’ve made and encourage us to keep making thoughtful choices, reducing our environmental impact and finding new ways to do better.

Ultimately, awards aren’t what drive our commitment to sustainability. What matters most is the difference we can make through the small, everyday decisions we take as a team. The recognition is a welcome reminder that these actions matter, and motivation to keep asking ourselves what more we can do to make a positive difference.

Always Learning, Always Improving

We know there is always more to learn, new ideas to explore and opportunities to do better. That’s why sustainability continues to shape our education, purchasing decisions and salon planning. From water, waste, packaging and energy to the products we use, the spaces we create and the small habits that often go unnoticed, we’re always looking for ways to make more thoughtful choices.

We’re incredibly proud of what Heavenly Hair has achieved so far, from industry recognition to our refill station, ECOHEADS showerheads, biodegradable towels, repurposed interiors and garden initiatives. But for us, sustainability is never a finished project. It’s about building on what we’ve learned, embracing new opportunities and continually finding ways to make a positive difference.

Most importantly, it’s about making sustainability part of the everyday Heavenly Hair experience, for our team, our clients and the world around us.
